Q:I'd like to suggest for people who would like to save their logs to utilize the google cache. pasting (( webcache (.) googleusercontent (.) com/search?q=cache: )) in front of a URL will take you there. :) All the log pages may not be there, but a majority of them ought to be.
A SUPER USEFUL SUGGESTION.
A lot of people have been sending asks about logs. The logs have been lost but we have a backup from November. Anything logged after that is gone. No chance of retrieval.
After we switch servers, we will be doing backups regularly and saving everything to a cloud so that this does not happen again.
Here’s a protip: Instead of being an asshole to people who are new (in reference to the influx of MSPARPers who’ve come to visit us in their time of need) to the cherubplay experience and generally giving the website an even worse name than it already has about being filled with indiscriminate elitist douchebags when it comes to writing styles, how about we give them a kinder, more welcoming approach.
Calmly take the promptless OOCs you’re seeing, kindly and with nice words explain to them the usage of the prompt system for prompts instead of general RP searches. Take the script system and kindly and with nice words explain to them the usage of the prompt system for paragraph style prompts instead of script style.
Don’t be one of those assholes who screams ‘GO BACK TO MSPARP’ when they obviously can’t, and help make both THEIR and OUR roleplay experiences all the better.
Don’t give someone a horror story to submit to us before they even get a chance to get used to the site.
Q:Oh Glub how the flip do I use Cherubplay??? 38(
A guide on how to use Cherubplay:
First you create an account. This is a simple process. You just enter a user name and a password. Make sure to write down your password somewhere so you don’t lose it! A lot of people lose their passwords and there is no way I know of to retrieve them yet. :(
Next, you can do one of two things.
Prompt mode: You write your own prompt in the text box and click Search. When a user connects, the tab should switch from saying CHERUBPLAY to New Message or Connected or something like that. Unless you’re using IE. IE is weird. Then you just answer them by typing stuff in your text box.
Answer mode: You’ll see one or two columns with different prompts. Click on the one you want to respond to and then click on the button that says Answer. You’ll be taken to a screen with checkboxes.
Some things to note about Cherubplay
- It is completely anonymous. No one can see your username
- People can only tell that you’re online when you have the chat window open.
- It shows when the other person is typing!
- If you put double parentheses (( )) around your text anywhere in the body of your message, it will set the message to ooc mode
- You can do soft enters to write multiple separate paragraphs by pressing Shift + Enter
- The NSFW section is not for the faint of heart, those easily made uncomfortable by crazy fetishes, or people with triggers so don’t click on it lightly
There’s a Missed Connections section on the MSPARP Forums if you want to try and find RP partners you lost when the server went down.
It looks like we will be moved by sometime next week. Then Charat will move also (hopefully with less down time).
Q:Hello, I'm planning on making a msparp app for iDevice users and I wanted to ask if that's ok with you, because in my computer class we're working on our own app and I thought that a msparp app would be convinient.
That would be really cool! Right now the site’s down but it should be back up sometime next week. Let me know how it progresses and feel free to talk about it on the Forums. Maybe the other users could give you input?
Gosh Darn It
There was something wrong with the DNS (the thing that points the URL to the page) and there was supposed to be a redirect page, but it wasn’t showing up. I fixed it, but it says it will take up to 24 hours for it to register all over the web.
The page just had links to Cherubplay (for prompts) and Charat (for group RP and random connections).
Stand alone clients
Pesterchum 6.0 (I’m not sure if this is just a general chat or an RP chat)
Homestuck Roleplays (not sure what this is but I’m guessing by the name it’s for RP?)
Chumdroid (looks like Pesterchum for Android?)
And of course, you could always re-read Homestuck while you wait and maybe give Problem Sleuth or Jailbreak a shot, if you haven’t read them yet. I hear they are pretty good.
